Poor flu vaccine uptake in parts of England blamed on weather and media reports

In the city of Nottingham, poor flu vaccine uptakes were attributed to a mild winter, media reports that the vaccine was ineffective, and ‘the number of families who cannot speaker English’.

Ms Mayfield, Screening and Immunisation Manager for NHS England, covering Nottinghamshire, claimed that ‘Mums are a strong force when they get together opposing something, but we try our best to get the right message out there’.
