Vaccine update warns of possible late surge in demand

Public Health England’s February vaccine update urges medical practitioners to consider whether they are retaining sufficient vaccine stock to meet demand, following the late arrival of cold weather.

As the beginning of the 2015-2016 flu season was unseasonally mild, Public Health England are urging caution to GPs whom may be thinking of returning unused stock before a possible late surge in demand.

The February vaccine update also features information on:

  • First estimates of Meningococcal B immunisation coverage
  • Details of rotavirus and pertussis immunisation coverage
  • Essential vaccine supply information for the current programmes
  • Details of the updated shingles patient group direction template
