Flu jab mismatch blamed for increasing winter deaths (UK)

A report in the Daily Telegraph has revealed that a mismatch between the flu vaccine and the dominant strain of influenza may have contributed to increased mortality in 2016.

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries revealed that the increased mortality rate has slightly cut overall life expectancy for the over 65s, (1.3% men; 2% women).

The ONS announced last year that the UK had seen an increase in excess deaths during 2015/2016.
